The Alternative Archive: Common Ground
March 22 @ 12:00 am – April 14 @ 11:59 pm
Local artists respond to existing and personal archives from the Narrogin region, drawn from personal relationships with the people, places and stories around them.
The Alternative Archive: Common Ground is a part of an exciting, state-wide series of interconnected group exhibitions, as part of the Connect to the Creative Grid project, through the Regional Arts Partnership Program (RAPP), supported by the State Government of WA and Country Arts WA.
This project provided the opportunity for artists to interrogate and engage with local archives in numerous ways 1) visually retelling existing stories; 2) engage with the archival process in the creation of a new archive that responded to the personal or collective impact of people, events or stories within the community; or 3) visually highlight an aspect of the community that was unrecorded – either fact or fiction.
