The South West Printmakers 2005-2026

The South West Printmakers are a diverse group of individual artists, brought together by a passion for printmaking. Many of the original group members met while studying visual arts at TAFE and Edith Cowan University in Bunbury.

The group formed in late 2005 and began exhibiting together a year later. Their inaugural group exhibition was to display their first Print Share at Bunbury Regional Art Gallery in 2006, they continued to exhibit here annually until 2021. Individual members often participate in exhibitions outside of group activities, expressing their ideas in mediums other than printmaking.

The group currently comprises of 5 artists: Yvonne Dorricott, Sue Dennis, Christine Latham, Anne-Marie Lapinski, and Lianne Jay, these artists live and work in Bridgetown and Donnybrook, with each artist generally working separately in their own studio, or sometimes in small groups, to produce work. They meet together monthly to exchange news, discuss ideas, projects, and the direction of the group.

Members produce original prints and mixed media works using a wide variety of printmaking techniques, and also artist’s books and installations, making works for exhibition and also to share with each other, as in the annual Print Share.

The group first visited Dryandra Woodland for a Camp in 2010 becoming fascinated by its uniqueness. Members have returned many times since then, either as individuals or again as a group, to further explore, discover and research it’s many facets, taking it on in 2021, as a theme for a long term group project for exhibition.

Since 2008 the group has travelled widely in WA, organising an annual art camp for its members. These camps are an opportunity to come together in a relaxed atmosphere, to explore and experience the unique Western Australian landscape, while creatively developing a sense of place, forging deeper friendships and exchanging information and ideas.

In November 2025, The South West Printmaker’s celebrated 20 years as a group that works together, exhibiting, exchanging ideas, and building fruitful working friendships.
