Beverley Station Arts, a dedicated group of volunteers absolutely mad about all forms of art and its inherent socialisation. After refurbishing the disused 1886 Beverley Railway Station in 2006 into a Gallery and Residency for visiting artists, it built an outdoor theatre, developing the grounds for a safe and beautiful useable space for various community events. Having created and now governing Beverley Art Gallery and Platform Theatre in the town’s centre, there is a strong sense of communal ownership and pride - a place where people come together to engage with arts, culture and each other. The whole set-up is the jewel of the environs. Beverley Station Arts manages a season of monthly events presented at the Platform Theatre between September and April each year to include comedy, circus, opera, music, ballet and a free community Christmas concert. Visual arts is accommodated through a year round Artist-in-residency programme at the Station Gallery and the renowned annual Art Purchase Exhibition - the Beverley Art Prize held over Easter and going into its 52nd year.
