EXHIBITION DATES 1 – 25 February 2023
GALLERY HOURS 10am – 4pm Wednesday – Saturday

This collective of Southern Wheatbelt artists were invited to respond to the theme of ‘Confinement and Liberation’ and delve deeply into their personal experience or observations of borders open and closed, to produce the artworks exhibited here.

Together, the artworks in this exhibition relate the artists’ exploration of separation from family, friends, homelands, nature and the how life within borders affects our psyche, our environment and ultimately our response to our situation, whether confining or liberating.

This exhibition is one of twelve across WA with the unifying theme of Open Borders, forming part a state wide collaborative initiative led by The Creative Grid. The Open Borders project was devised to nurture resilience, sustainability and vibrancy in the regional arts sector of Western Australia during the COVID-19 pandemic.
