Drip Drop Play
Drip Drop Play by Ad Lib Collective is a joyful and calming sensory experience that encourages children to listen, explore and play in an immersive colourful world of ice and water.

About the show
With sessions designed for specific age groups (3–5, 6–9 and 10–12 years), each experience is tailored in the way the facilitators interact with children. The younger sessions focus on playful exploration and discovery, while the older sessions introduce elements of sound science and musical composition.
Led by silent characters Drip and Drop, the journey begins in a welcoming space of gentle lighting, song and listening games that encourage curiosity and engagement. In the Ice Room, melting ice pieces create a dynamic soundscape, which children transform using everyday objects such as tins and cups.
The final space features giant water bowls illuminated by shifting LED patterns, where musicians perform in the water before inviting children (and accompanying adults) to experiment with sound-making themselves.
The performance fosters collaboration, creativity and scientific curiosity, strengthening connections between children and their parents or grandparents through shared discovery.
With comments like “Man, that was satisfying” and “How is she doing that?”, the sense of wonder experienced by both children and adults is evident in feedback from previous seasons.
