Arts Narrogin supports bright ideas
MEDIA RELEASE
Narrogin will experience its first live crowdfunding event on Wednesday, 22 January thanks to an initiative by local cultural non-for-profit, Arts Narrogin.
Using a fundraising model that has proved successful in a variety of locations from the USA to the UK to Kalgoorlie, Arts Narrogin has called upon community members and organisations to come forward with their ideas to enliven the town.
A few of those ideas will be selected and the proposers invited to pitch them to an audience of locals who will vote for the idea they like the most.
The project, which has been called Pitch n Plate, will be held at the Narrogin Bowling Club and tickets are now on sale via trybooking.com/BHIKB or in person at Arts SPACE. All of the ticket fee of $15 will go into the pot to be distributed to the successful pitchers while audience members enjoy a delicious quiche and salads supper supplied by Arts Narrogin. Drinks will be available to purchase from the bar and there will be ample time to socialize.
“We want to encourage innovative and creative thinkers who have an idea to improve the liveability of Narrogin,” Arts Narrogin fundraising coordinator, Deborah Hughes-Owen said. “Sometimes big projects grow from a small seed and even the tiniest change can enrich our lives and brighten our days.”
For further information, photographs or interviews, please contact Arts Narrogin manager, Cait Stewart, on 0448 490 409 or Arts Narrogin fundraising coordinator, Deborah Hughes-Owen on 0427 812 824.
Come along and join the live audience! Buy a $15 quiche & salad plate, listen to exciting new creative ideas for Narrogin, and pick which one gets your vote. Tickets are $15 each, available online at https://www.trybooking.com/BHIKB or at Arts SPACE (80 Federal St Narrogin).

Pitch n Plate (Callout for Pitch Applications)

Pitch n Plate: A Live Crowdfunding Event
Pitch Callout for our first event, to be held on Wednesday 22 Jan 2020.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: MIDNIGHT FRIDAY 10TH JANUARY
Do you love living in Narrogin and have a burning ambition or idea to improve or enliven the town? Are you inspired to get creative but need a kick-starter? We want to support your ideas, big and small.
Arts Narrogin has been busy with community engagement projects during 2019 and would like to encourage more of your ideas.
With this in mind, Narrogin’s first live crowdfunding event will be held at the Narrogin Bowling Club on Wednesday, 22 January from 6pm to 8.30pm.
How will it work? We’ll use an existing model based on an international movement called “Soup Nights”. This will aim at funding small creative projects through community meals. A group of people come together to share an affordable meal and all the income from that meal is given as a grant to support selected projects.
At the Pitch n Plate night everyone will pay $15 for their quiche and salad meal in return for one vote. During the course of the evening up to five individuals or groups will pitch their idea. At the conclusion of the pitches, all participants will choose which project they wish to contribute their funds to.
This will be a great fun social night with entertaining pitches to hear, delicious food (vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available), a licensed bar and the opportunity to support a small-scale community project.
Pitchers may be individuals who currently live, work or study in Narrogin or be a Narrogin-based group; the project must deliver a discernible cultural benefit to the Narrogin community; and the pitcher must be prepared to attend the next live crowdfunding event to tell the attendees how they used the money received.
