Pitch n Plate #01

Live Crowdfunding Event

January 22 @ 6:00 pm 8:30 pm

Narrogin Bowling Club

Come along and join the live audience! Your $15 ticket buys you a quiche & salad plate, the chance to listen to exciting new creative ideas for Narrogin, and a vote for your favourite one. All proceeds from ticket sales go to the pitches presented on the night!

Buy a $15 ticket for a quiche & salad plate, plus the chance to listen to exciting new creative ideas for Narrogin, and a pick of which one gets your vote!

At this social event, hosted by community arts organisation Arts Narrogin, you have the chance to invest money and energy into local Narrogin projects, innovators, and creators.

How does it work? We’ll use an existing model based on an international movement called “Soup Nights”. This will aim at funding small creative projects through community meals. A group of people come together to share an affordable meal and all the income from that meal is given as a grant to support selected projects.

At Pitch n Plate everyone will pay $15 for their quiche and salad meal in return for one vote. During the course of the evening up to five individuals or groups will pitch their idea. At the conclusion of the pitches, the audience gets to decide which one they support. Everyone wins!

This will be a great fun social night with entertaining pitches to hear, delicious food (vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available), a licensed bar and the opportunity to support a small-scale community project.

Thank you to everyone who took part in our first ever live crowdfunding event, Pitch n Plate! The event wouldn’t have been anywhere near as spectacular without our fabulous live audience, hardworking volunteers, and passionate pitchers.

Throughout the night four pitches were made to an excited audience of 75 community members, who were keen to hear the new ideas for projects to benefit the town.

Altogether our community raised the following amounts to kickstart each of the new pitches:

  • Thornton Theatre Landscaping Project: $437.85
  • Core for Community: $788.20
  • Moorditj Youth: 910.75
  • Unsung Heroes: 535.80

This funding came from a combination of ticket sales and extra donations on the night, topped up with $1000 (split across the 3 projects based percentages) from Arts Narrogin’s gift fund, which is also made up of donations from the community.
